A good landscape changes how the building is experienced every day.
Landscape is more than planting around leftover spaces. The route from gate to entrance, the view from a living room, the shade beside a dining area and the privacy around a bedroom all affect how the architecture feels. We therefore develop landscape planning in relation to the building, using outdoor areas to strengthen arrival, frame views, soften hard edges and create useful places to sit, gather or pause.
The design balances hardscape and softscape. Paving, steps, decks, boundary conditions and outdoor structures need clear dimensions and levels.
